Il percorso si compone di due parti. Un primo breve sentiero, da percorrere in andata e ritorno, ci consente di raggiungere uno spettacolare punto panoramico sulla cascata e la gola del torrente Radicagnoli. Un secondo tratto, per gran parte ad anello, completa l’itinerario.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Lungo la stretta e profonda valle del torrente Radicagnoli l’erosione ha scolpito gole, cascate e pozze profonde nelle rocce verdi, le stesse rocce ofiolitiche che spesso si incontrano nella vicinissima Valle del Diavolo e in tutta la Val di Cecina, testimonianza della complessa origine geologica del territorio.<\/p>\n

Si tratta di luoghi noti sin dall’antichit\u00e0, celebri per la presenza di numerose manifestazioni idrotermali legate a geotermia e termalismo.<\/p>\n

Il percorso – nel primo tratto – consente affacci spettacolari sul torrente, regalando scorci inattesi delle possenti cascate che si susseguono lungo l’alveo roccioso. Subito dopo un anello si ripercorrono i sentieri storici del poggio, detto di Spartacciano. Sul fondo della valle si scorgono le rovine degli importanti bagni termali di San Michele, gi\u00e0 documentati nel 1266.<\/p>\n

Il fabbricato esistente, provvisto di un caratteristico ponte coperto, permetteva di collegare l\u2019albergo col piccolo edificio termale al di l\u00e0 del torrente.<\/p>\n

I bagni, menzionati tra i siti adibiti alla cura dei malati dal 1512, erano dotati di varie vasche e ambienti di servizio, ancora visibili. Along the deep and narrow valley of the Radicagnoli creek<\/strong>, erosion has molded gorges, waterfalls, and deep pools in the green rocks, the same ophiolite rocks found in the nearby Valle del Diavolo and throughout the Val di Cecina, reminders of the territory\u2019s complex geological origins. These areas have been known since ancient times and are famous for the presence of many hydrothermal features connected with geothermal and thermal phenomena. In the first stretch, the route displays spectacular views of the stream, giving unexpected glimpses of the powerful waterfalls dotting the rocky riverbed. Next, a ring leads along the historical routes of a small hill, aka Poggio di Spartacciano. On the valley floor, the ruins of the important thermal baths of San Michele<\/strong>, documented as early as 1266. The existing built up area, with its characteristic covered bridge, connected the hotel with the small building housing the baths on the opposite side of the stream. The baths, mentioned among the sites for healing the ill as early as 1512, were equipped with several pools and service rooms, which are visible to this day.
