If you are interested in examining the places and personalities who portrayed the history of the Elba Island, the Foresiana art gallery (located on the second floor of the De Laugier barrack) will offer you an interesting perspective of the Island, thanks to its collection of artefacts, portraits, prints and painting landscapes by several artists such as Signorini, Morandini, Nomellini etc.<\/p>\n
This collection, donated in 1914 by Mario Foresi (an intellectual citizen from Elba), is divided into twelve thematic areas showing muskets, swords and antique furniture in addition to painting and prints. The key to the city, given to Napoleon on 1814, can be see there too.<\/p>\n
Starting from Piazza Cavour, go past the Municipal Building and go up to \u201cSalita Napoleone\u201d. The steep road on the left side leads to the large square of the De Laugier Cultural Center.<\/p>\n
