The church belonged in the past to the plover of San Pietro in Bossolo. Consecrated in 1001 by San Podio Vescovo di Firenze, at the end of the XIII century it was completely rebuilt in simple gothic forms and equipped with a bell tower. The two splendid bells, built in 1290 by a certain Magister Lorenzo, have recently been placed at the sides of the main entrance of the building.
