In the last years of his life San Giovanni Gualberto retired to the Abbey of Saint Michele in Badia a Passignano, where he was buried. Legend tells that the Saint, now an old man, used to go horseback riding from Badia to the Molino dell’Abate Mill, where he met the peasants of the area to comfort them, bless them and soothe their pains.
