The face of the village was transformed: the Torrigiani granted to the municipality the land where the current Piazza Matteotti was built in 1859, at the end of the nineteenth century the construction of the hospital, the carabinieri barracks, the Palazzo Comunale Municipality, the playschool run by religious orders and the construction of sewers, paving and public lighting. In this small square at the beginning of the twentieth century a fountain was built to serve citizens and the playschool, called \u201crenters pump&#8221;. The water flowed from the nose-piece placed sideways: the hook that was used to hold a bucket or a half-copper is still visible today.
