Nella localit\u00e0 di Romagliano ai piedi del castello di Sambuca, gi\u00e0 prima del XII secolo, venne edificato un ponte in muratura per consentire l’attraversamento del fiume Pesa alla Via per Siena e Roma. Il ponte \u00e8 ricordato gi\u00e0 nel 1179: nei suoi pressi sono visibili edifici che presentano caratteri architettonici risalenti al XII-XIII secolo. Il ponte fu probabilmente danneggiato all\u2019inizio del Quattrocento e infatti venne ricostruito nel 1415 per consentire il transito dei veicoli su ruote. Consolidato dal Governo Francese nel 1813, fu allargato e raddoppiato in larghezza nel 1843. In the locality of Romagliano, at the foot of the Sambuca castle, a stone bridge was built before the 12th century to allow the crossing of the Pesa river on the road for Siena and Rome. The bridge is mentioned in 1179: buildings with architectural features dating back to the 12th and the 13th century can be noted near it. The bridge was probably damaged in the early 15th century and rebuilt in 1415 to make it suitable for the transit of wheeled vehicles. The bridge was consolidated by the French Government in 1813 and enlarged in 1843. L’abitato di Sambuca inizia a svilupparsi \u00a0all’inizio del 1200 sulla riva sinistra del fiume Pesa, in prossimit\u00e0 del ponte di Romagliano, sul quale passava l’antica Strada Romana. Elementi architettonici del XII e XIII secolo sono visibili ancora oggi in fabbricati adiacenti al ponte: qui notiamo in particolare la parte basamentale di una torre posta a controllo dell’attraversamento del fiume, in seguito trasformata in osteria. Il 20 settembre del 1301 la Sambuca \u00e8 citata in un documento in cui si dice \u201cfu data licenza a due maestri muratori del Comune di Firenze di fabbricare case nel borgo della Sambuca\u201d, segno evidente di una crescita del borgo dovuta alla posizione strategica sulla strada che univa l’alta Val di Pesa con quella dell’Arno.
