The first public garden in the city, Montagnola is a green space in the most frequented city area, between the train station and the bus station. It is a kind of “welcome” to those who arrive in Bologna and goes to the city centre.
\nFormed on the fortress of Porta Galliera, it acquired its vaguely French appearance during the Napoleonic period.
\nIt is surrounded by monumental staircases and by the Pincio, built in 1896 thanks to the mastery of Tito Azzolini and Attilio Muggia. While inside the park reside a large fountain embellished with animal sculptures.
\nAmong its paths shaded by centuries-old Platani, Tigli and Hippocastani you can have a coffee at the kiosk tables or take a rest on the grass.
\nThis garden changes on Friday and Saturday, during the famous market in August VIII square. It becomes a meeting place for many young people looking for a good deal between its stalls of crafts, lingerie, shoes and tissues.<\/p>\n","addr:street":"via irnerio","addr:housenumber":"2\/3","addr:city":"Bologna","address":"via irnerio, 2\/3 Bologna","contact:phone":"051 9984190","contact:email":"info@montagnolabologna.it","opening_hours":"lun-dom 7-21","imageGallery":[{"src":"http:\/\/bnbbo.be.webmapp.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Parco-della-Montagnola-0823-768x512.jpg"},{"src":"http:\/\/bnbbo.be.webmapp.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Parco-della-Montagnola-0829-768x512.jpg"},{"src":"http:\/\/bnbbo.be.webmapp.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Parco-della-Montagnola-0820-768x512.jpg"},{"src":"http:\/\/bnbbo.be.webmapp.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Parco-della-Montagnola-0816-768x512.jpg"},{"src":"http:\/\/bnbbo.be.webmapp.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Parco-della-Montagnola-0814-768x512.jpg"}],"image":"http:\/\/bnbbo.be.webmapp.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Parco-della-Montagnola-0823-768x512.jpg"},"geometry":{"type":"Point","coordinates":[11.344835,44.5012849]}},{"type":"Feature","properties":{"id":88,"name":"Botanic Garden","description":"

The name “Villa delle Rose” has its origins in the garden and numerous varieties of plants that surround this historic residence.
\nWe are in via Saragozza, an important and characteristic street that hosts the longest portico of the city. In this evocative context, a long staircase guarded by statues of two lions and set among trees skilfully pruned takes us inside this hidden gem.
\nA villa from the second half of the 18th century, originally the residence of the Cella family.
\nIn 1916, thanks to its last owner Nerina Armandi d\u00e8 Piccoli, it was donated to the city of Bologna. At a later time, it became an exhibition space of the Gallery of Modern Art.
