Il castello di Villandry, completato intorno al 1536, \u00e8 l’ultimo dei grandi castelli che vennero costruiti sulle rive della Loira durante il Rinascimento. Nel XVIII secolo, il nuovo signore fece costruire i grandi spazi simmetrici in stile classico su entrambi i lati del piazzale, e fece ristrutturare l’interno del castello adattandolo agli standard di comfort di quel periodo. I giardini del castello rappresentano la ricostruzione di un giardino francese del XIV secolo sulla base di testi antichi.<\/p>\n
Questi giardini sono divisi in quattro terrazze: una terrazza superiore con il giardino del sole (creazione del 2008), una terrazza con il giardino d’acqua circondato da un chiostro di tigli, una terrazza che accoglie il giardino ornamentale o giardino dei ricami di bosso finemente potato e di tasso in arte topiaria, e infine una terrazza inferiore con l’orto – giardino decorativo, anch’esso formante un disegno ricamato. Il giardino ornamentale, o giardino dell’amore, situato sopra l’eccezionale orto, prolunga i saloni del castello.<\/p>\n
Salire fino al belvedere permette di avere una vista magnifica dell’insieme dei giardini dell’amore, che sono divisi in quattro insiemi: l’amore tenero, l’amore passionale, l’amore capriccioso e l’amore tragico.<\/p>\n
