La zona archeologica di Claterna si trova tra il Comune di Castel San Pietro Terme e quello di Ozzano Emilia. Sorta nella prima met\u00e0 del II secolo a.C., Claterna raggiunse dimensioni pari o superiori a quelle di Bononia (Bologna) e Forum Cornelii (Imola), per poi scomparire, misteriosamente, attorno al VI secolo d.C.<\/p>\n

A partire dal 1891 diverse campagne di scavo hanno messo in luce reperti di notevole interesse, come strade, case, fognature, iscrizioni, oggetti d’uso e d’ornamento. Le campagne archeologiche, portate avanti negli ultimi decenni con sistematicit\u00e0, stanno restituendo importanti testimonianze della storia del Bolognese orientale.<\/p>\n

Particolarmente interessanti sono i resti di una domus di et\u00e0 imperiale, pavimentata a mosaico e cocciopesto, con eleganti decorazioni geometriche o ispirate a motivi vegetali. Visibile anche l’incrocio fra la via Emilia e il cardo massimo, principali strade della citt\u00e0 antica, oltre ai piani di un’officina artigianale attiva negli ultimi secoli di vita della citt\u00e0. Il piccolo museo ospita i materiali recuperati negli scavi effettuati fra la fine dell’Ottocento e gli anni ’60 del Novecento.<\/p>\n

The archaeological area of Claterna is located between the Municipality of Castel San Pietro Terme and that of Ozzano Emilia. Founded in the first half of the II century BC, Claterna reached dimensions equal or superior to those of Bononia (Bologna) and Forum Cornelii (Imola), and then disappeared, mysteriously, around the VI century AD. Starting in 1891, several excavation campaigns brought to light findings of considerable interest, such as roads, houses, sewers, inscriptions, objects of use and ornament.<\/p>\n

The archaeological campaigns, carried out in the last decades with systematicity, are giving back important testimonies of the history of eastern Bolognese. Particularly interesting are the remains of an imperial age domus, paved with mosaic and cocciopesto, with elegant geometric decorations or inspired by plant motifs.<\/p>\n

Also visible is the crossroads between the via Emilia and the cardo massimo, the main streets of the ancient city, as well as the plans of a craft workshop active in the last centuries of city life. The small museum houses the materials recovered in the excavations carried out between the late nineteenth and the sixties of the twentieth century.<\/p>\n
