is mentioned in 1189 (but its construction is certainly earlier perhaps even dating back to the early years after 1000) in the document with which Pope Clement III assigns it to Bishop Bono.<\/p>\n<p>The castle of Murlo was destroyed (like many others in the area) by the Imperial of Charles V in 1554, but, incredibly, its particular status as a bishop&#8217;s hero survived the fall of the Sienese republic and even these privileges remained in existence until 1749, when they were abolished by the Grand Duke Leopold II.<br \/>\nToday, the Palazzone (it was the ancient bishop&#8217;s seat) and the Porta di Ponente remain of the medieval Murlo.<\/p>\n<p>Near Murlo, practically on every hill, there are the ruins of several other castles: Fabbrichella, Formignano, Macereto, Montepertuso, Montepescini (the Castelvecchio di poggio castle), Valresta, Vescovado ,..<\/p>\n<p>A curiosity: Murlo was certainly an Etruscan village and even today, even for the guilt or Montepescini (il Castelvecchio di poggio castello), Valresta, Vescovado cercare per vedere ma occhio a borri e rovi.<br \/>\nUna curiosit\u00e0: Murlo fu sicuramente un abitato etrusco ed ancora oggi, Et enfin la splendide Abbazia di Sant&#8217;Antimo, du XII si\u00e8cle de style roman, qui s&#8217;\u00e9l\u00e8ve isol\u00e9e \u00e0 quelques kilom\u00e8tres de Montalcino.<\/p>\n<p>Occup\u00e9e par les Etrusques et les Romains, Montalcino tomba en 1260 aux mains des Siennois. Sa forteresse, bel exemple d&#8217;architecture militaire du XIVe si\u00e8cle, fut le refuge des membres du gouvernement de la R\u00e9publique de Sienne, lorsque cette cit\u00e9 fut prise par Charles Quint en 1555. Le centre ancien de Montalcino refl\u00e8te son riche et tumultueux pass\u00e9. Construite au XIIe si\u00e8cle sur les ruines d&#8217;une \u00e9glise qu&#8217;aurait fond\u00e9e Charlemagne au VIIIe si\u00e8cle, l&#8217;abbaye Sant&#8217; Atimo appara\u00eet dans un \u00e9crin de collines plant\u00e9es de vignobles et de cypr\u00e8s. Son \u00e9glise romane est une des plus belles de Toscane.<br \/>\nAux productions de charcuterie, de fromage, d&#8217;huile d&#8217;olive et de miel, il faut ajouter celle de l&#8217;excellent &#8220;Brunello&#8221;, l&#8217;un des meilleurs vins rouges d&#8217;Italie, dont la r\u00e9putation est mondiale. Montalcino fait partie de l&#8217;association &#8220;Borghi pi\u00f9 belli d&#8217;Italia&#8221; et a re\u00e7u le label &#8220;Paesi Bandiera Arancione&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Le Brunello<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est le premier vin en Italie \u00e0 avoir obtenu la\u00a0 D.O.C.G., il na\u00eet des m\u00e9thodes traditionnelles de la r\u00e9gion, remontant \u00e0 la seconde moiti\u00e9 du XIXe s, qui l&#8217;ont rendu c\u00e9lebre dans le monde entier.<br \/>\nSoigneusement vieilli durant trois ans dans des f\u00fbts en ch\u00eane rouvre de Slov\u00e9nie, le Brunello s\u2019affine encore quelques ann\u00e9es en bouteille afin d&#8217;atteindre le maximum de ses qualit\u00e9s.<br \/>\nSa saveur est s\u00e8che, douce et aust\u00e8re, il est servi \u00e0 une temp\u00e9rature d&#8217;environ 18\u00b0C. et accompagne les r\u00f4tis, les viandes grill\u00e9es, le gibier et les fromages faits.<br \/>\nDans un pays comme l&#8217;Italie qui produit du vin depuis pr\u00e8s de 3500 ans, le Brunello di Montalcino peut \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme une invention r\u00e9cente. Ce n&#8217;est pas en effet un vin fait en hommage aux traditions locales mais le r\u00e9sultat d&#8217;\u00e9tudes d&#8217;un seul vigneron, Ferruccio Biondi-Santi.<\/p>\n<p>Autour de 1870, Ferruccio Biondi-Santi a commenc\u00e9 de planter dans ses vignobles un clone du c\u00e9page Sangiovese, connu sous le nom de Brunello. Le jeune viticulteur avait remarqu\u00e9 qu&#8217;une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 du c\u00e9page Sangiovese, appel\u00e9e Grosso pour le distinguer de la race originaire de la r\u00e9gion du Chianti et qui produisait des grains plus petits, \u00e9tait plus r\u00e9sistante aux attaques du phylloxera qui ravageait alors les vignobles du district.
