Castello di Meleto: delle origini del castello di Meleto sappiamo ben poco; venne forse eretto alla fine del sec XII da un ramo dei Ricasoli. Fu occupato per poco tempo dai Senesi nel 1478, mentre rimase senza successo un nuovo assedio del 1529-30.<\/p>\n
L’attuale costruzione \u00e8 un corpo quasi quadrato che incorpora una torre pi\u00f9 antica; forse quattrocenteschi sono i due torrioni cilindrici negli angoli sud ed est, questo molto ben conservato con il suo basamento a scarpa e l’apparato a sporgere della sommit\u00e0. Castle of Meleto: Not very much is known about the origins of Meleto Castle. It was probably built at the end of the XII century by a line of the Ricasoli family. It was occupied for a short time by the Sienese in 1478, but a further siege in 1529-30 was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
The present building has an almost square outline that includes an older tower. The two cylindrical towers on the southern and eastern corners where possibly built in the XV century. The latter is very well preserved with a scarp wall base and machicolations at the top. Le b\u00e2timent d’aujourd’hui a une forme presque carr\u00e9e et inclut une tour plus ancienne. The village of Castagnoli dates back to the high Middle Age. A reliable documentation of 900 deals with
\nthe sale of a \u2018podere\u2019 called the Stielle, today one of the most famous vineyards of the Rocca di Castagnoli Company. In 1203, Castagnoli became part of the Florentine territory and entered in the League of the Chianti. They were turbulent years, full of conflicts and wars. During the Aragonese war of 1478-79, the Senese people tried heavily to subjugate the village of Castagnoli.<\/p>\n
The fortress resisted and subsequently, as a result of the fall of Siena, it entered to make part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. A period of peace began, in which illustrious families like those of the Piccolomini, the Tempi and the Ricasoli had the property of the villa and the surrounding farms, dedicating themselves with great energies, to the cure of the vines and the production of the wine. In 1700, under the guide of the Tempi family, the Company became one of the most celebrated farms of the area, as testified by the many compliments of the Grand Duchy Pietro Leopoldo who, in 1773, visiting the Chianti Region, praised the illuminated management, emphasizing the excellent state of the farms and the optimal living conditions of the peasants. In the last years many important jobs of restoration of the villa and the rocca have been made together with the introduction of modern criteria of working in the vineyards and in the wine cellars, and still nothing had changed in the deep tie that joins this land to the persons who inhabit it and cultivate it.<\/p>\n

Pendant les derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es beaucoup de travaux importants de restructuration ont \u00e9t\u00e9 fait sur la villa et le ch\u00e2teau, et des crit\u00e8res modernes pour le travail des vignes et des caves ont \u00e9t\u00e9 introduits, mais sans alt\u00e9rer le lien profond qui relie ces terres aux personnes qui y vivent et en travaillent les champs. Si esce dal bosco e si arriva ad una zona pi\u00f9 aperta. Si continua seguendo la direzione del torrente. Il sentiero a tratti si allarga. In alcuni periodi dell\u2019anno ci pu\u00f2 essere l\u2019erba alta, in altri il fango. In some sections the path becomes a dirt road and in some periods of the year there can be high grass or mud.
