Il ritrovamento di reperti etruschi e romani testimoniano le antiche origini di Castellina. Le prime memorie scritte risalgono all’XI secolo. Sin dai primi decenni del XII secolo il Chianti fu oggetto di contesa fra Firenze e Siena e nel 1176 la Repubblica fiorentina fece sua la maggior parte del territorio. Come molte altre localit\u00e0 chiantigiane, alla fine del XII secolo entr\u00f2 nell’area di influenza fiorentina (1193) e della cosiddetta “Lega del Chianti”.<\/p>\n
Resti delle imponenti opere di difesa recingono ancora parte del paese, come ad esempio le torri. Nel punto pi\u00f9 alto le mura sono interrotte da un poderoso cassero a pianta rettangolare restaurato nei primi del ‘900. Ancora presente \u00e8 la “Via delle Volte”, unico tratto percorribile che testimonia l’esistenza di corridoi seminterrati intorno alle mura. The discovery of Etruscan and Roman tombs and ruins gives evidence of the ancient origins of Castellina. The first written documents date back to the XI century. Florence and Siena fought all over the Chianti area from the beginning of the XII century and the Florentine Republic conquered much of this region in 1176. Like many other places in the Chianti region, at the end of the XII century, Castellina fell under the Florentine jurisdiction (1193), and the town became part of the so-called “Chianti League”.<\/p>\n
Some remains of the imposing defensive architecture (like the towers) still surround Castellina. The walls are interrupted at the highest point by an imposing rectangular-shaped “Cassero” (castle), restored at the beginning of the XX century. “Via delle Volte” also still exists, and it is the only remained part of the underground corridors that once existed all around the walls. La d\u00e9couverte de tombeaux Etrusques et de ruines romaines t\u00e9moignent l\u2019antique origine de Castellina. Les premiers documents \u00e9crits remontent au XI si\u00e8cle.
