Fondata nel 661 da Saint Germer, che ne fu il primo abate, \u00e8 una delle pi\u00f9 antiche testimonianze dell\u2019arte gotica in Francia. Distrutta dai Vichinghi nel IX secolo e saccheggiata nel X, nel 1036 l\u2019arcivescovo di Beauvais decise di farla ricostruire. Oggi tuttavia dell\u2019antica abbazia medievale rimane solo la chiesa, in stile romanico-ogivale; la Cappella situata nel prolungamento della chiesa \u00e8 invece in stile gotico rayonnant ed \u00e8 la riproduzione della Sainte Chapelle fatta costruire da San Luigi all\u2019interno della propria residenza, il Palais de la Cit\u00e9 a Parigi, per custodirvi le reliquie della corona di spine.<\/p>\n
