Siamo nel cuore della Lunigiana, in localit\u00e0 Apella di Licciana Nardi, provincia di Massa Carrara, nell\u2019alta Toscana, a 660 mt. d\u2019altitudine, circondati dai secolari castagneti del Parco Nazionale dell\u2019Appennino Tosco-Emiliano, dove, un tempo, i Malaspina erano signori incontrastati dell\u2019intero Territorio. L\u2019ambiente e la natura incontaminata si sposano con l\u2019ospitalit\u00e0 e la gentilezza del personale dell\u2019agriturismo, valori che hanno un\u2019antica tradizione in queste terre di Lunigiana. Quel che ci si aspetta da una ottima struttura ricettiva, qui c\u2019\u00e8. Ma c\u2019\u00e8 qualcosa in pi\u00f9: la cornice irripetibile, tutt\u2019intorno, di un paesaggio ancora vergine e intatto, dove la Storia si unisce alla Natura, in un\u2019area riconosciuta da maggio 2015 Riserva MAB UNESCO.
\nE\u2019 qui che sorge l\u2019agriturismo della famiglia di Mario Maffei, e a far da vedetta, spunta una torre di avvistamento costruita nel 1000 d.C. che fu poi ampliata in rocca di difesa nel tredicesimo secolo, mentre, nel 1700 venne elevata a torre campanaria ed abbazia. Dopo anni di abbandono e incuria, grazie all\u2019idea e all\u2019impegno di Mario Maffei, nel 1995 il monastero ha ritrovato il suo antico splendore, e oggi la sua imponenza si erge su oltre 600 ettari di riserva, nella quale effettuare escursioni a cavallo, trekking, e magari raccogliere frutti di stagione come fragoline di bosco, mirtilli, castagne e funghi. Il tutto da soli o accompagnati da guide esperte. Saranno frequenti gli incontri con gli animali dell\u2019azienda come le mucche e le pecore allevate allo stato brado, in un\u2019atmosfera bucolica che permetter\u00e0 agli ospiti di conoscere lo spirito di un tempo e la genuinit\u00e0 offerta dalla struttura.
\nSi potr\u00e0 poi godere del relax offerto dalla piscina dell\u2019azienda, prima di avere accesso a una gustosa cena preparata con cibi tipici locali, biologici e sani, di propria produzione.

We are 660m above sea level, surrounded by the ancient chestnut woods of the Tuscan-Emilian National Apennine Park<\/strong>, in an area where, at one time, the undisputed masters of the territory were the Malaspina. Here, a special environment and unspoilt nature are combined with hospitality and kindness, values that have a long tradition in Lunigiana.<\/p>\n We have everything you would normally expect from a great tourist accommodation structure.<\/strong> But there is more: a unique setting, which fully surrounds us, an untouched and intact landscape, where history merges with nature in an area which was recognised by UNESCO as a MAB (Man and the Biosphere) Reserve in May 2015<\/strong>.<\/p>\n This is where you will find us, Agriturismo<\/strong> Montagna Verde<\/strong>, and the farm of Mario Maffei <\/strong>and his family<\/strong>, overlooked by a watchtower built in 1000 BC. This was later expanded into a defensive fortress in the thirteenth century and in 1700 turned into a bell-tower and abbey. After years of being abandoned and neglected, thanks to the initial idea and commitment of Mario Maffei, in 1995 the monastery was restored to its former glory.<\/p>\n Today it stands majestically overlooking 600 hectares of nature reserve, where visitors can enjoy excursions on horseback, hiking, and maybe pick seasonal fruits like wild strawberries, blueberries, chestnuts and mushrooms, either alone or with the help of expert guides.<\/p>\n Almost certainly you will get to meet our cows and sheep who live free range in the area.
